Help people stay safe

Our commitment: to train 20 million farm workers on labor safety, especially in developing countries

See our progress at a glance

Our work with growers and partners around the world is delivering measurable results.

The challenge

Agriculture is the world’s second largest source of employment and one of the most dangerous. Many agricultural workers suffer occupational accidents and illness each year, caused by exposure to chemicals, working with machinery and other factors.

We understand that no matter how many people we train in safe agricultural practices, training alone does not guarantee a tangible impact on safety. Our industry is often criticized for promoting safe-use campaigns that provide knowledge but do not address structural constraints on behavioral change. So we are designing and implementing new monitoring systems that track the effectiveness and impacts of labor safety training programs and identify bottlenecks that prevent behavioral change.

safety products

Our stewardship programs raise awareness of the hazards and risks associated with agricultural work, and share knowledge of how these can be effectively managed and prevented. Each year we train as many farmers as possible through partnerships with local organizations and the retailers who sell our products. These partnerships are essential, because no single organization can reach the whole farming community in every country.
